Just ran across the work of Marianne Huotari of Finland. She’s one of the finalist in this year Loewe Craft Prize (as are ceramicists Kate Malone and Andile Dyalvane – both who have taught workshops with The Ceramic Congress; and Fernando Casasempere, Lu Bin, and Sangwook Huh)

’Ananasakäämä’ ceramic sculpture is made of hand formed ceramic parts which are hand sewn one by one on a three-dimensional base.

’Hedelmälehdon suudelma’ is part of series called ’Juhlien jälkeen’ (After the Party). This series celebrates the indulgence of life and appreciates the shared moments with someone you care for. After the Party takes you to the sparkling and blooming Mid-summer evenings. ’Ananasakäämä’ – as the joker of a party it makes sure to keep the smile on your face.
