Aimeé L Nash posted an update in the group Kilns & Firing
3 years agoHi everybody. I am new to this group & looking to purchase my very first Kiln for home use.
I have narrowed it down to the Skutt KMT 1022.
My question is, if anyone would be so kind to oblige, is I am trying to decide which of the 2 options I should purchase.
This model is available in 2 configurations, one is standard (I believe 2 or 2.5 Inch brick) & the other comes with 3 inch brick which reduces the chamber size by 1 inch (so not losing much size inside) but apparently the 3 inch is more energy efficient & helps preserve the internal elements.
I would have thought energy efficiency is the way to go but I wanted to ask here in case anyone has some input on this. The 3 inch is slightly more expensive too.
I have been advised I need a single phase 240 volt (confirmed by electrician), so would greatly appreciate if anyone can help me make this final decision and on the road to purchasing kiln
Thank you!
