  • I’ve been using Pottery Notes to record my makes and glazes. I actually loved it. However, I just lost all my records because I forgot the app does not back up to the cloud and I mistakenly deleted the app (to fix a problem) and reinstalled it. By doing so I lost all my data. Does anyone use an app that does back up to the cloud and…

    • Hi Diane, sorry to hear about that! We have a notes feature here that is backed up daily and you can use it on desktop or our mobile app. https://ceramic.school/notes – you can also add your own ingredients and glaze recipes to tag to your notes. If you try it out, please let me know if we can improve it at all for you 🙂

    • Hi, I just hit “join group” after seeing my post from earlier this morning, then not being able to find it. I was asking for advice on how to resolve a “glaze bubble” and had added a photo, but they are now gone. I also just noticed one of the admins hoping that this could become a more helpful, interactive group, but some of the posts…

        • Hi Michele! Your first post went to your profile (and is seen in the news feed), and this post went into the group – which is seen both in the group feed and the news feed. You can post things to different places depending on who you want to see your posts, and what privacy options you choose. Does that help?

      • Hi everyone. I unloaded my kiln yesterday and 4 small mugs came out beautifully, but I then had glaze “bubbles” pop at the connection of the handle on 3 of the 4. I used Mayco Black Walnut under Winterwood (which moves), with a very thin/light application of Light Flux just on the rims. I was surprised at the movement (2175 for 5 mins, 1900…

        • This is the post that is no longer showing in the feed….hoping that my comment moves it back into the feed view.

          • I’m no expert on this, but I’ve followed many pottery sites and the most common response to fix bubbles it to refire the piece at one cone lower than the original fire. That will allow the glaze to flow again, and allow the bubbles to heal over.

          • A long-term potter now nearly 80, living to pot rather than the opposite. I muddle along happily, selling as and when. People enjoy the pots: ‘earthy ….. looks like it’s always existed …. gritty textures …. muted colours’. I like work to be at least semi-functional so many pieces are designed for flowers/twigs/plants.

            There’s…

          • Hello everyone,

Thought I’d just introduce myself. I’ve been potting for about a year now. I’m loving it! I bought the clay camp workshops from 2024 about surface design but haven’t had chance to watch them yet.

I’m not very tech savvy and can’t abide Facebook (I use it under duress).

I’d love it if we can get this forum up and running for…

            • Hi Debbie, I just posted this morning and had hoped for the same community/forum – also trying to find alternatives to FB and I was prompted to do this via an email I received. However, my earlier post asking for advice, is no longer present, yet older ones from your admins are. Could you help keep these public discussions more prominent…
