About Me
Your pronoun | her |
Introduction | Beginner potter from Colorado. I have been using oil and acrylic paints for 10 years, and enjoy traditional pen/pencil artwork. I just started taking an intro to ceramics class for throwing and hand building. Can’t wait to continue learning! I enjoy baking, fly-fishing, and have an adopted pupper named Rye. I have a D&D group that meets regularly, and making something for my campaign group. |
What I Love about Ceramics | I love that you can see each potter’s unique style in their pieces, whether it is hand built, thrown, sgraffitoed, glazed, raku fired, etc. |
How I started with ceramics | I have been wanting to take a ceramics class since 2015, and finally decided to take an intro to throwing class at a local service and then bought a wheel during the holidays of 2020. I currently have a little (and compact) “studio” in the corner of my garage that my husband helped me build, and use a local kiln firing service to fire my pieces. Still working on and perfecting my little corner, but it gets the job done for now! Very happy with the way it turned out, and I am sharing my progress on my Instagram profile. |
What inspires me | Food, nature, memories, folklore, and my culture. Other potters also continue to inspire me to think outside the box, and learn new techniques to apply to my work. |
What I'm working on at the moment | Currently developing a product range to be released later this year. I sketch out my designs before throwing them on the wheel to have a visualization of what I am going to make both on paper and in my mind. I have a lot of ideas, and I can’t wait to share them once they are complete. |
My Artist Statement | I aspire to make pieces that bring both myself and others joy, and I hope to continue learning from both the clay and ceramicists. |
My CV | Just a hobbyist ☺️ But have a goal to make this a full time career. |
