My name is Calan Ree.  I’m originally from Long Island, NY but have lived in St. Petersburg, FL for the last 20 years.  My ceramic work is primarily figurative sculpture.  I also enjoy hand building pottery and combining clay with mixed media particularly natural found objects such as pods or bone.  I pull inspiration from nature and folklore.  I have loved clay since my childhood…(shout out to Play-Doh!).  My other loves include my partner Jim, a wonderful musician and our beloved chiweenie dog, Cheddar.  My happy places, outside of the studio, include the beach, kayaking, nature walks and most recently roller skating.
