About Me
| Introduction | I am Angie Mae MacFarlane. My business name is Angel Mae pottery. Angel – derivative of my name and my husband calls me Angel. I have loved clay since high school but didn’t have an opportunity to dig in and really learn until I was in my 40’s. I love to throw and handbuild with a bit of sculpting. I get inspiration from my garden – my other passion is flowers and plants, so you might see that in my work. |
| What I Love about Ceramics | I love being able to make something out of nothing! With clay there are endless possibilities. |
| How I started with ceramics | I took pottery classes in high school and really enjoyed it but never felt it was a way I could make a living. Only after my children were teens was I able to pursue clay on a more serious basis. |
| What inspires me | I love plants, flowers, mountains, and functional items. Beauty with function. |
| What I'm working on at the moment | I am continually learning about the glazes I have and how they layer together to create a pleasing finish. In terms of the clay – I love making pierced pieces, but making mugs, flowered bowls and other functional items seem to take the majority of time. |
| My Artist Statement | I am a small batch potter, creating functional wares, as well as altered and pierced thrown pieces. |
| My CV | Nothing too exciting to note here – I mostly attend local markets. There is a local art gallery that that I am proud to have sell my wares as well. |
