My CV | Biografia versão inglês revisada Maria Angélica Maria Angelica Amat Dias (born in 1958) is a visual artist, teacher, restorer and social activist originally from Botucatu, São Paulo, Brazil. She lives in the City of Santos, São Paulo, Brazil, and her studio, Ateliê / School / Morro do Bambu, is located in the same city. She has a B.A. degree in Visual Arts from the Metropolitan University of Santos in São Paulo, Brazil. Amat Dias’ artistic repertoire includes sculpture, drawing, painting and installation art. However, her main focus is on expanded ceramics. The assimilation and expansion of structurally, formally, conceptually and chromatically reinforced spatial cartographies starts from a potential initial gaze that serves as a pretext to suggest approaches to cultural, social and human issues, such as, nature or Brazilian tension, for example. She has participated in various national and international artistic projects and her work has been exhibited at Sanbao Ceramic Art Institute in China (2006), Curaumilla Art Center in Chile ( 2013, 2015, 2018 and 2020), Lá Bisbal d’Emporda, Spain (2018), International Exhibition of Ceramics and Glass SERES, Turkey (2018), Arte Bunkyo, Brazil (2010, 2011, 2017), The British Center, Brazil (2018, 2011); Olido Municipal Cultural Center, Brazil (2017); Yxing City Museum, China (2017), The Fourth Hong Juang Zi Qi Cultural Festival, China (2017), The Design Gallery, Brazil, (2012) Pinacoteca Benedito Calixto, Brazil (2010, 2012), Ccbras Embu das Artes, Brazil (2017) and Vestir Cerâmica Galeria, Espaço Arte, Cultura & Design, Brazil (2019). Amat Dias’ work is part of public and private collections at important institutions, such as, the City of Santos Department of Culture, the Catholic University of Santos, and the IV Hong Juang Zi Qi Cultural Festival. In addition, she has also been awarded the Honorable Mention prize at the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo Exhibition in 2019. Among several social projects in which she is involved with is the Catholic University of Santos social and inclusion project for vulnerable young people. She has recently developed researches and done restoration work on Portuguese tiles in a mansion listed under cultural heritage in Santos, São Paulo, Brazil, and, as an individual exhibitor, she displays a collection of her work at Escola Estação Bistrô Restaurant, a social project in the same city.
In 2021, her work A Gravidade da Alma was displayed in a Ceramics & Art Exhibition at LA Galeria Toten in São Paulo, Brazil. She holds the title of Ambassador of the Catholic University of Santos in São Paulo for her relevant services in Art and social reintegration. |
