I used my scoring tool and pin tool to create a feathering design, then underglazes to highlight the different areas. Hope this helps

You can try the cake piping attachment with slip..the one used to make grass. 

I love using the textures side of sea shells to create thick fluffy fur. Run it is waves and let the clay smoosh a bit then add a little texture of individual hairs near the ends to show how long the floof is with a scratchy wire tool usually used for scoring.
