About Me
Introduction | Savannah Fyre (fai·ur) is based in Grants Pass Oregon. Born in 1978, she works with multiple mediums such as clay, metal, writing and photography. Her creative inspiration is guided by intuitive purpose, which leads to physical forms. Transformed by life to be an eclectic warrior, and a compassionate humanist, Fyre weaves into her work concepts of survival, endurance, practicality, and conscious evolution. Work reflecting evidence of solid designs, Fyre creates tactile elements which imbue emotive images, reinvented artifacts, and timeless tools. Her central influences are the explorations of antiquity, folk traditions, and earth science. Fyre has been a Eugene Bennet, Leon Mulling Art, Oregon Technical Fund, and Oregon Community Foundation Scholar. She completed a professional pottery apprenticeship and established educational programming and reproduction of Oregon Pioneer Potters for Historical Society. Fyre established her own business brand in 2001. A pyrotechnic performer, she has worked with high profile clients doing BRC construction for Cirque De Solei, and TED Talks. Awarded RCC Artist of the Year and Honor Roll student she is pursuing her Batchelor of Science Liberal Art Major at Oregon State University. |
What I'm working on at the moment | I am currently exploring Liberal Art Studies to broaden my cultural perspectives and bring my entrepreneurial artwork to a whole new level. I seek to find the deeper understandings in multidisciplinary knowledge to inform decisions within my artwork. I am immersed in a learning environment that values conceptual growth to transform my role as an artist. My essential style will always be a part of my artwork, but I am eager to find new ways of expressing it. I am excited to use my skills in various ways within my web presence. While writing what feels like an excerpt of my heart for this section it offers an opportunity to discuss my primary “bread and butter” lines: the world’s best foot scrubber, and rad mugs with meaning. I have a passion for organic textures, and carving. As many of us would agree, it takes hibernation to get through the winters sometimes, and creatively I am hibernating: stay posted for more amazing work to come! |
My Artist Statement | I have had a long lasting and fulfilling relationship with my artwork and it sustains my being on many levels. My passage of rights into motherhood transformed me into an eclectic warrior, and a compassionate spiritualist. I weave into my work practicality, and intuition. I rise to the opportunity to present the audience with a broader view of our natural state of being through poignant images and mystic symbols from both ancient and modern humans. In ranges from experimental to ritual, I intentionally create a tactile element that draws the audience in to find deeper meanings of reinvented artifacts, emotive images, and interesting tools. Nature is a central influence throughout my work and my desire to create is equally met with the objects desire to exist. My curiosities ignite explorations of antiquity, human experience, femininity, geology, and biology. My spiritual passage into womanity, and the universal languages of humor and empathy weave their way into my work as it transforms through chapters of my life. Mediums excite me and I am experimental and adaptive in the ways that I use them. I have an affinity for clay and metal especially, but some of the best materials are reclaimed fabrics, cardboard, wood and more. I love them all, and I stay open to new inspirations. My creativity is my richest resource. My primary process begins with an ethereal construction of concept, which then activates my mechanically inclined mind to plan the process. I have a great fervor for building honoring ideas with smart construction. Inseparable from my creativity, I use the inspiration with purpose, a meaning and a method that lead my work into physical form.
