About Me
Introduction | I am a hobby potter who crafts everyday ceramic pieces for those who appreciate understated, subtle designs. My designs are characterised by their calming and peaceful aesthetic, often featuring earth tones and drawing inspiration from the natural world. |
What I Love about Ceramics | I take great joy in the process of transforming a lump of clay into something meaningful and functional that brings a touch of beauty to daily life. It could be a simple mug for your morning coffee or evening tea, enjoyed in your favourite spot at home. Or perhaps a piece of dinnerware to serve a delicious homemade meal to friends and loved ones. It might even be a pot that perfectly complements one of your cherished plants. |
How I started with ceramics | In fact, I started with ceramics when I was a child. I filled all key holes with kids clay… yes, my parents were not too happy about it. Sadly, back in my childhood, I wasn’t coming in contact with any real ceramicists. I only came across it more or less by chance when I was about 34 years old, but it never let me go again. 🙂 |
What inspires me | There’s tons of people and things that inspire me. It’s mainly other ceramists, but also the nature. I often get new ideas when I’m on one of my walks in nature. I don’t get the inspiration directly from things that I see but walking just frees my mind and makes space for ideas coming my way… |
What I'm working on at the moment | Currently I’m mainly working with slab building. The slabs are often stamped with handmade clay stamps. Furthermore, I love to create organic forms and I’m currently experimenting with very thin (3mm) slabs. I’ll have to see how that works. |
My Artist Statement | Since I’m making ceramics as a hobby, my main focus is enjoying myself during the process. |
My CV | I don’t really have a ceramic related CV, since making ceramics is my hobby. I continue to attend various workshops (in person and online) and I’m just enjoying the process. |
