Join me in this immersive workshop, where I’ll guide you through the process of creating your own texture stamps by producing silicone moulds. As well as a variety of techniques to add unique textures onto air-drying clay. We’ll experiment with everyday items, specialized tools and materials, and innovative methods including pressing/stamping techniques to achieve captivating results.

About Jo Roets
Jo Roets (b.1979) is a passionate sculptor and mould maker residing in Cape Town. She introduced the medium of self-drying stone clay into the South African fine art landscape in 2018. Embracing unique techniques and combining it with this medium allows her to push the boundaries of conventional ceramics. Her work has recently been published in Clay Formes – Contemporary Clay from South Africa.
In 2018, Jo’s work was selected for three prominent art competitions: Sasol New Signatures, Pretoria Art Museum (finalist); Tollman Bouchard Finlayson Art Award Barrel Head Exhibition, Hermanus (finalist) and Vuleka, Art.B Gallery, Bellville (finalist). She was announced as the winner of the inaugural StateoftheART Gallery Award in 2018. In 2021, Jo was announced as one of the Tollman Bouchard Finlayson Art Award winners and an awardee of the coveted international Sustainable Arts Foundation Grant. Roets’s first solo was exhibited in 2019 at StateoftheART Gallery and second solo at Rust-en-Vrede Gallery in 2022. She was included in the Art.co.za Top 10 artists watchlist for 2024.
Roets has exhibited with numerous South African galleries and abroad with Galería Begbie & Coll and Galería F&deO, Spain. Apart from gallery exhibitions, her work has been exhibited at festivals around South Africa, including KKNK, Tulbagh Arts Festival, Hermanus FynArts Festival and US Woordfees. She is currently exhibiting in South Africa, Spain and UK and celebrates a client and collectors basis from across the globe.
