An iron-rich, low melting clay consisting of shale, slate, limestone, sandstone, and dolomite deposits from glacial Lake Albany during the Wisconsin Ice Age (10-15 thousand years ago). Contains illite, quartz, limonite, chlorite, calcite, dolomite, and kaolinite. Comes from the Hudson River Valley area around Albany, NY; no longer available.
