Step 1: Shape Your Mittens
- Roll the clay into a long snake (a coil).
- Cut it into small pieces that are about the same size.
Now, take each piece and shape it into a mitten. Squish the clay flat, then pinch one side to make the thumb.
Step 2: Add the Hook
Gently push a metal hook or eye pin into the top of the mitten while the clay is still soft. This will let you hang your mitten later.
Step 3: Smooth Them Out
Dip your finger in a little water and smooth out any bumps, cracks, or fingerprints.
Step 4: Let Them Dry
Put your mittens on a flat surface and let them dry completely. This will take about 1 to 2 days.
Step 5: Sand Them (If You Want)
If your mittens have rough edges, you can use sandpaper to make them smooth.
Step 6: Paint and Decorate
Time to make them pretty!
- Paint the mittens with your favorite colors of acrylic paint.
- Once the paint is dry, use markers or a small brush to add fun designs like stripes, snowflakes, or polka dots. Don’t forget to paint the back too!
Step 7: Add a Shiny Finish (Optional)
If you want your mittens to shine, you can paint them with a clear sealer once the paint is dry.
Step 8: Hang Them Up!
Your mini mittens are ready! Use the hooks to hang them on your Christmas tree, garlands, or anywhere you like.
