hello all, I am from Indonesia and have been doing ceramics for around 21 years. I like to alter thrown forms, making faces and play with textures.

Love the wheel. Making and trimming are my favorite parts in the process.
-
Trimming is my hardest part. I have a Shimpo Aspire and the wheel is small and all the trimmers use larger bats. I made me a trimming wheel that uses magnets. It works ok but it could me a lot better I’m sure lol.
-
I love trimming pots! Except when I go too fast and cut right through the base 😆

Started on the wheel a few months ago. Finally feel like I am getting better at it.

Has anyone experienced difficulty throwing plates with clay that has a little grog in it? I was practicing making plates today and the clay kept getting goopy and the grog was messing me up, I think. I know I am still a beginner when it comes to throwing plates. (especially centering more than 3 lbs of clay 😞) Would appreciate any and…

Is there anyone who has a kickwheel? I can’t find a goed instruction film on internet. So I practice on my own. Not always happy with the results.
-
I know that Simon Leach, who has a lot of videos on Youtube, makes his own kick wheels. He might have some specific videos on working on kick wheels. He is a great potter, lots of good videos on throwing in general. Good luck! DBJ

Throwing is what keeps me on track. Nothing like it. A truly fulfilling activity.
