I use it for mainly sculptural pieces, but I can’t imagine why not. The paper burns out and with a food safe glaze it should be fine. What are you working on and what would be the benefits of paperclay? Porcelain paperclay slip for example is lighter and thinner

Definitely! Paper Clay is the same as clay! It will depend on the glaze you use and if you fire up to vitrification. Depending on the amount of paper you use, it may change the firing cone for vitrification. As anything else in ceramics: test, test, and test some more
