Our app is currently just available on Android.
Join from your android device: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=school.ceramic.app&pli=1
Join from the web: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/school.ceramic.app
The apple app will hopefully be a few weeks ????

Finally something is available on android FIRST! So tired of playing second fiddle to iPhones

Just reposting comments from other location.
- Is like the ability to make “My Notes” private. Most results are great to share but some are just a “record” for myself.
- I get repeated requests to “accept or decline” cookies every time I go to the notes page.
- Occasionally, the app says I have no internet connection although my signal is strong and all other apps are working. I know that might be a unique issue between my system and the app.????♀️
In the meantime, I’ll keep playing and enjoying the app!

Hi there,
I only just downloaded the app earlier today so haven’t fully had time to play around with it yet.
So far though…
– it’s quite slow – and I don’t know if that’s because it needs code optimisation or what
– what attracted me to download it was it being described as a pottery logbook – but it feels like that bit of it is hidden away; instead the emphasis seems to be on a feed of content a la Instagram – but I really want to use the logbook. I’d love it if the homepage had clearer links to the logbook area, and less prominence on the feed
– I didn’t understand the feed part tbh, looking at it made me think “who are these people? what’s happening?”
– it doesn’t feel immediately intuitive – maybe because of the above. Of course this could just be me!
I used to work full time as a web and app designer, so it’s possible that I’m being too demanding and nitpicking, so I apologise if I come across like that! 🙂 I’m just excited to have a dedicated pottery app!

Hi Kat, thanks for the feedback! I’ve just updated the home page – does that seem easier?
I’m trying to get a good balance of community vs personal.
We are working on the server speed, it should hopefully improve over the coming weeks.
-
Big yes to the homepage update – the functionality I was looking for is now proudly there!
I didn’t realise it was a community-based app, that’s my mistake so I apologise! I’ll look at it differently now – as a concept, it’s great as a learning tool 🙂
I do agree with someone else’s comment, that private notes would be good – I have hundreds of ideas I want to try, or samples of glazes I’ve done, so being able to choose to privately save that info would be good (e.g. I have about 30 mini tiles where I was testing glazes, this would flood the feed if I were to post them all, but being able to save them for my own reference would be good!)
I’m excited to see the app grow 🙂

Also just updated the main menu to swap out groups for notes ????

I don’t like having to be asked if I want to read each notice individually and also to delete them individually.

Hi Joshua
Love it so far but the pottery note book wouldnt let me ‘preview’ so not sure what it will look like ultimately.
A couple of comments. Measurements not specified as to whether metric or other. Choice needed here.
Choices for some things very limited ie clay type. I often use my own blend of midfire stoneware and porcelain. No option for ‘wild’ clay. Ravelry does this really well with putdown menus for yarn where you can specify the exact yarn.
Can we update a post and still keep some of the old information and photos? If you were working on an idea through to the finished product as an example?
Would be good to have an issues or problems box too with tags (eg sagging, bloating, crawling) and description when entering in the notebook. Then it is searchable for combinations eg clay brand and type plus problem.
Some of the words used to describe objects are not universal. Eg bowl was not a tag. Basin (the nearest) in Australia or Britain is a large kitchen bowl used for mixing but not serving or for washing your hands. I dont think ‘beaker’ was available either.
Enough comments for now.
Cheers
Mandy

One more thing
I dont remember if there was a field for construction methods. Maybe I just forgot.
-
I thought that construction method could go as a tag, but of course that opens up the issue of typos, so I agree – a preset list of options would be better 🙂

It would be good if there is a private space where I can use to track/log/make note of my work. Or have option to make “my note” private. Actually I think My Note gave the impression that it is a private diary. For your planned purpose, you should rename it “Share note” thank you.
-
The option to reply would be easier at the top of the thread.
Also is there a search option for a workshop by key words? I couldn’t see one.
Love what you do. Thank you.

Hi I haven’t been able to download the apple app yet. But is there a place to add courses to a wish list or tag them in some way.
-
The Apple app is now available to download ????
-
In your emails and on the ceramic school website, it wasn’t clear what the app was called. I was looking up “no secrets in ceramics” on the play store. I eventually figured it out. If there was an image of the app in your outreach, it would help.
-
Thanks heaps Josh. I will download to my I pad. Are you considering making this app available on Android…it would be great if you could. What a terrific idea!!!
-
Thank you so much for the app! It’s so much easier to see the video links and it’s great you’re building a community!
-
-
I also looked up “the pottery notebook” on the play store and found nothing. The language that would have been clear for me: download the Ceramics School App to try the new Pottery Notebook feature.
-
I surfed around this app for a few days. I am not quite clear on what is the purpose of this app. Is this a place for community support and sharing tips and all. Or it is to market something. The lay out is confusing and not very intuitive. It feels like something that is not professionally created but by someone that uses an app to create it.
I think this app is released prematurely. There is a lot of kinks and bugs to be ironed out beforehand.
I think this should go back to the drawing table to be re- inspected and reassembled.
-
Well, I loaded the Android app onto my Samsung tablet and when I open it…nothing. I get a screen saying “The Pottery Notebook” and listing 2 “Quick Links”: Pottery Notebook and Materials & Recipes, but clicking does nothing. Clicking on the bottom menu icons also does nothing. It’s like a dead page/screen.
-
I just downloaded the app and updated my information on the About Me section. I noticed that the text boxes don’t flag misspelled words. It would be nice if it did that.
Some of the groups on the home page haven’t been active with posts in more than a year or two. I hope that changes. Maybe new groups need to be started for the app once it is out of beta? Will groups have moderators? Can anyone start a group?

Notifications. There should be an easy way to see the content of the post/update. When you click on notification i have to select view post.
