Is there anybody who can answer me about this?
If the roller kiln length is about 240 meters. What would be the ideal temperature curve for firing biscuits?
bouche, El and Luanna Luba-
I think the temperature depends on the clay’s type, for example Low fire clay (Earthenware, Terracotta): 900-1000°C
• Mid-fire clays (Stoneware, Porcelain): 1000-1050°C
• High-fire clays (Dense Stoneware, Porcelain): 1050-1100°C

HI, Iam from Argentina, we use all the ovens, especially the wood-fired ones, cow dung.
Last year, I built my raku oven, with a blanket in a pan of oil, with a gas burner.
I have some pdfs on how to build low ovens with common bricks, very rustic, we also made paper ovens, (only use, for schools)
I don’t know how to upload files to the…

If you can save the pdf’s as jpeg’s the site should let you upload them to your post as images. Would love to see it!

Hello, fellow pottery people!
I am a youtube fan,But am also a Ceramic School fan, anyways in my youtube video binge of recent I came across a video of a wood firing done by Matthew Kelly and John The Potter. It was a neat video to watch, not only because I am a big fan of them, lol. It was interesting and somewhat helpful in what it takes to…

I also watched the Matthew Kelly, JonthePotter wood firing. Last summer I built a Raku kiln using a wire dog crate and ceramic fiber and youtube videos were very helpful. I am rebuilding the catenary arch kiln this spring.

I have soft brick to make a raku kiln, but I also have ceramic fiber and a metal dog kennel. Which would be better?

I am planning on rebuilding my old kiln, disassembled when I moved 30 yrs ago. I saved most of it, a 30 cu ft catenary arch, waste oil fired cone 10 kiln. I just have to pour a pad in the spring. I’m looking for someone who wants to learn, share in this. Im near Cleveland, Ohio.

Did you get this going?

Help pls, kiln experts ! I bought a used old Cress FX27-P. I’m finding it gets very hot very fast … went to 2000 degrees F in 3 hours today while I’m glaze firing. Is this normal? Do you agree that’s too fast? Thoughts on remedies?

Woodfiring question!
I’ve got the tiniest little woodfire kiln at the school I’ve started teaching at (maybe 12” x 36” x 24” loading space inside).
The previous teacher only fired it once because people called the fire dept thinking there was a wildfire. With a kiln this little is there a good way to keep the smoke down? Any suggestions…-
Start firing with a propane weed burner and a 20 gallon tank then finish with wood.
