Hey, I am Shinobu Hashimoto!

In this workshop I will show you how to make a Japanese cooking pot.

These clay pots are a very big part of Japanese daily life and extremely popular. We place a gas stove on the table, and eat various dishes from them together. So you can pretty much find them anywhere you go.

About Shinobu Hashimoto

Born in Tokyo in 1969, potter Shinobu Hashimoto founded Tenstone Studio and Gallery in Hokkaido, Japan. His goal is to design and manufacture ceramics that fit our modern lifestyle. In doing so, he keeps the forms simple with minimal embellishments, staying true to the original texture and shape of the clay. Shinobu’s hard work and eye for detail are clearly evident in the finished works. Each is made on the lathe and then finished using a mix of experimental techniques. One such technique is the use of slip instead of glaze to create a craquelure effect on the surface. All Shinobu vessels have a lot of character and a very individual aesthetic.
