The Adelaide Potters’ Club comprises an enthusiastic group of potters who enjoy their craft. Members’ work is displayed in the gallery which is open on weekends from 12 noon to 4pm. Pottery classes are held in the rear workshop and prove so popular that there is a waiting list. Recently introduced classes for children are also in great demand. The club’s main exhibition is during the SALA festival in August, with other exhibitions occurring in May and November/December. In October 2014 we staged a successful joint exhibition with the Ikebana Society of South Australia. Participation in community events is an important part of the club’s activities. During winter, monthly raku firings are held at the club. Once a year since 2012, club members have journeyed to Broken Hill to join the Broken Hill Potters in a weekend of ‘primitive’ firings, including pit and cow-dung firings. This partnership has led to a proposed joint participation in the 2015 Adelaide Fringe Festival.
