Bisque fired to cone 08 as per recommendation in Jolanta Van de Grint book “Saggar firing in an electric kiln”
Bisque Firing Details: Cone 08
Glazing Notes:
Addition of masking tape to one piece to reduce smoke absorption during saggar firing. Experimental technique obtained lovely shades of smoke absorption. Each piece sealed externally with Renaissance Microcrystalline wax.
Glaze Firing Details: Fired to 400°C, 90°C/hr to 121°C then 200°C/hr to 400°C followed by normal cooling. Pieces fired in clay saggar containing barley straw in and around each piece. No air holes in saggar to optimise carbon blacking effect.
