Having said clearly I tend to stay away from artivism in order to protect my mental health I have since realised that much of the art I aspire to is in fact activism art so I am listing my thoughts on what I might see as a theme for the project movement matters – ideas so far considered:
1. The current butterfly one in a biomorphic style (see previous note) in which butterflies are very sensitive barometers to environmental change. They are delicate creatures and beautiful examples of nature.
2. I might also create a largish cow (possibly in a pseudo cubist style – blocky) and a small version of a wild animal (Rhino immediately comes to mind) and their sizes (weight of initial clay used) will represent the 96% / 4% ratio of human/livestock mass to wild animal mass by way of showing how devastating human activity is. The
3. One other possibility will be a representation of the mushroom cloud of nuclear explosions along with models of actual mushrooms and other fungi – representing the amazing features of fungi (medicinal uses, biosphere importance, resilience etc – will need lots of research!
The overall theme is the devastation caused by the anthropocene period – how mankind is causing so much damage with no regard to the importance of nature and the planet we live on.
Another possibility will be the specific issue of animal cruelty and the issues of ethical veganism – maybe sculptures of cows with their babies lying lifeless near them with reference to the dairy industry etc.
