• Setting up a Studio

I recently read the article Josh posted on setting up a safe studio, taking note of the hazards of dust, clay debris on floors, kiln safety, etc. I am writing this post to beckon your help and ideas for setting up a public studio used by teachers and their students and monthly studio renters (like me). We desperately need Rules & Guidelines that support safety, cleanliness and well-thought out workflow, particularly now that it is being used by more artists and students (adults & children). I’m attaching a photo of our current studio situation. I’m open to your suggestions for improvement! Please share your studio rules/guidelines; practical layouts with work zones, and include photos of your studios—why they work or what you wish you’d thought of when designing your pottery studio. Please share your experience and ideas. Many thanks!
