Over the next few months, I plan on making a little studio in the corner of my garage (hopefully compact enough so we can still park our cars in the garage when not in use). I was googling inspiration for a garage ceramics studio for a hobbyist, but couldn’t find anything that only worked with a corner and didn’t make use of the entire garage. We don’t have a separate room on our ground floor, and I don’t want to make a ceramics workroom on our second floor for safety reasons. Due to the lack of corner garage studio information, I will be recording the process as we go. We have a two car garage with a little space at the edges to fit a few things, and we have planned out where I could put everything from shelving and wall mounts for clay/glazes/tools, foldable wedging board, throwing wheel, stool, etc. I plan on firing my pieces from a local kiln firing service. I am aware of the different experience levels on this platform so I hope that this process can at least inspire newer potters to make a space they have work, whether that be in a garage corner, or a space in their own home.
