My dear colleague,
As you might know, the Museum of Ceramic Art- NY (501)(c) (3) web site is up and running and Ceramic World Destinations, a searchable database for ceramic art in on the site which lists over 3800 worldwide galleries, museums, studios etc for ceramic art. It use to live on the IAC site and I fully intended it to be a shared responsibility from our members to keep it alive and active. The Executives ( and office) felt it too much work so rather than see this rich resource die and where I have spent years developing I am wondering it you know some student, retired person or member with some time to give to assist in vetting the destinations.
I need assistance from someone with some familiarity about ceramics to help in vetting the listed sites. The sites have been accumulated over the past 4 years, but URL’s change and sites often move and the list needs updating. This vetting can be done at leisure from home. Vetting means testing the URL provided and omitting those that no longer exist. It is an interesting task as it acquaints the person with first hand knowledge of ceramic sites in the world. I need people from South America, Europe and Middle East.
I would prefer it be someone who would like the experience, as we are a not for profit and not funded at this early stage so it is not a paid task at the moment but a task for a volunteer.
Would you assist me in locating someone who might have interest and time to do this absorbing task. We will do a training session and It can all be done remotely. If you can identify a student, a studio artist,. an interested collector, etc. that would be great. If a student, we will monitor the time and supervise the experience for college internship credit. There are also other interesting positions coming up as we start to write copy and do research for an international newsletter and world events for ceramic art This unique experience would expand scope in the field, competitions and exhibitions and experience with a not for profit virtual museum. We are a unique startup.
Here is the url to look at the current CWD site. We are in the process of making it an all new look.
