Hey All!!! I am desperately looking for a white engobe recipe that would be compatable with Highwater Raku clay. Everything I am finding requires Zircopax which I cannot seem to get. Shrinkage is 6.5% at cone 06 and 10.5% at cone 6. Something I can add colorants too is preferred. Thank you!!!

Have you tried checking pharmaceutical or cosmetic raw materials suppliers for zirconium silicate? While I had trouble finding Zircopax under the brand name, zirconium silicate was widely available where I’m from. If not, maybe try replacing it with tin oxide? Usually zircopax is added to make the engobe opaque and tin works the same, it’s just more expensive then zirconium.

Malgorzata thanks so much for responding! I finally found some and am having it shipped. I do have some tin oxide but don’t want to dive into that for this!!

Yea, I get you! I’m glad to hear you’ve managed to found some zircopax. I find it to be one of the most useful raw ingredients to have in the studio.
