Soon after opening my studio, a beautiful little Tiger Moth visited me. Studying it for several moments, I found it to be very remarkable with a stunningly beautiful, contrast of black, white and vibrant orange. This creature has been born again and anew from its former composition as a caterpillar, into a whole new creation with coloration and patterns that point to our own realty; that life is not always black and white, and has the ability to change and claim vibrancy that can inspire us. Common Clay Studio’s philosophy comes from 2 Timothy 2:20 that points to our Father, The Maker, who forms and transforms the common and ordinary clay into noble and useful objects, used for higher purposes. So too, how we, the imago dei (Potters), transform clay (a common, ubiquitous material that is natures refuse), into something beautiful, useful and everlasting. Because the Tiger Moth undergoes metamorphosis into a new and glorious creature, it seemed fitting that it become the mascot of Common Clay Studio. Where do you find your inspiration?
