| Introduction |
Hello! My name is Louise Cormier and I am from Alberta, Canada. I develop my skills and imagination in my studio and through workshops and classes. My preference is sculptural work, however, I love challenging myself with functional wares for artisnal markets.

| What I Love about Ceramics |
I love all aspects of ceramics because ceramics  present the opportunity to continuously reinterpret objects/surfaces aesthetically.
|
| How I started with ceramics |
Initially I took a class in uni, however, it was later in life that I decided to fully devote myself to this. I met a potter who introduced me to our local guild and was thrilled with the creative opportunities that were suddenly open to me. Since then I have organized a studio at home complete with separate kiln and chemical rooms.

| What inspires me |
I am always interested in unique designs and in that quest, I most often search for motifs in nature, history/culture and technology.
|
| What I'm working on at the moment |
I am currently working on an assemblage. Initially I used mold-made forms. Now I am working on the surface using textured glazes and drip glazes. These require multiple firings.
|
| My Artist Statement |
Clay is an expressive medium that constantly fascinates me. Both sculptural pieces and functional wares present avenues of research that reflect my interests in perception, creativity and visual history. My goal is to continue developing my skills and visual language in order to better remark on the world around me. I have work in the Royal Museum, Edmonton and private collections in Ireland, France and Canada.
