About Me
| Introduction | Hi, I’m Ilze and i LOVE ceramics. I’m from South Africa and love experimenting with clay. I love wheelwork, handbuilding and love using my Screenprints on my clay. |
| What I Love about Ceramics | You start with a piece mud and end up with a piece or art. Nothing is more satisfying, than to see your own work completed. (although the kiln may have other ideas for your work when it fires lol) |
| How I started with ceramics | I did so much stuff, but nothing satisfied the creativity that i longed for. I bought 2 pieces of bisque and 2 small bottles of underglaze. Red and black. I painted the bisque, asked a local potter is she would glaze and fire it for me and after seeing the finished product, i started looking for pottery classes. I did classes for a year and bought a kiln and wheel and self experimented from there. 7 years later and it is still my biggest creative passion. The void was filled. |
| What inspires me | oh … SO many potters. I LOVE seeing what everyone makes, how they utilize the minimum or maximum they have to work with. I love going through interior magazines and get inspiration from designs in fabric and outlay of a home. Watching and learning plays a HUGE part in my inspiration process. |
| What I'm working on at the moment | Currently i am working on some functional ware |
| My Artist Statement | This is me…. unique and imperfect |
