About Me

Introduction

My name is Juanetta Bocko and I am from Plainview Texas.  I love hand building and slip casting.  I really enjoy and gravitate towards experimenting with clays.

What I Love about Ceramics

Ceramics is so versatile and there are so many things I am able to create.  I love the feel of the clay in my hands and watching it come to life as I shape it into what I am working on.

How I started with ceramics

I am an art teacher but never got to work with clay.  My second position allowed me to branch into ceramics with my students and my love for clay was born.

What inspires me

I am not sure that I can pinpoint one specific thing that inspires me.  Everything has the potential to inspire me.

What I'm working on at the moment

Right now I am working on slip casting.

My Artist Statement

I enjoy working with balloons as armatures and seeing how the clay reacts to them and clings to the balloons.

My CV

My career highlights are really teaching my high school students as much as I can about ceramics.  I would love to build up enough pieces to put them into shows.
