About Me
| Introduction | Centred Clay Studios is a guild-style, membership-based studio located in Calgary, Alberta. We have four instructors, Ashley and Julie, who are the owners, Kari Curtis, our hand-building expert, and Tracey Martell, our surface dec guru. Ashley is an exhibiting ceramicist with work at Jonathan Bankcroft Gallery in London ON. Julie is a working potter, with work available on line and at local retailers; Kari and Tracy both sell online and in numerous markets in Calgary and area. |
| What I Love about Ceramics | The endless possibilities, the opportunities for our members to discover their creativity, and the numerous benefits a collaborative studio offers our members – home studio, community, the opportunities to detach from busy day-to-day, and that indescribable thing that happens on the wheel, where one can disengage for a while from whatever is going on outside the studio. We particularly love it when our members have those “Wow” moments, whether they learn a new technique or that magical moment when they see their work emerging from the kilns. |
| What inspires me | Our members. Every single day, we come to the studio and find some wonderful work. |
| What I'm working on at the moment | Growing our membership, and grounding our mission – to create an exceptional, creative, supportive community. |
