Years ago, I would have coil thrown this shape. But in recent years I have been looking for alternative methods. This one uses lazer cut shapes designed to be removed later. The rope reduces issues related to shrinkage. I love it as you can sculpt the outside without the form drying out.

These are high porosity clays fired to cone 03 with vermiculite added and some body reduction. The aim was to create a wicked for the elkhorn to grow onto.
