| Introduction | Hi, my name is Karin and I am a hobby potter from Germany. For me, pottery is a balance to my work as a social worker. I have been attending every Ceramics Congress since 2020 and I am enthusiastic about all the fantastic artists who let us participate in their art – thank you very much for that! Hi, mein Name ist Karin und ich bin Hobbytöpferin aus Deutschland. Töpfern ist für mich ein Ausgleich zu meiner Arbeit als Sozialpädagogin.Seit 2020 besuche ich jeden Ceramics Congress und bin begeistert von all den fantastischen Künstler*innen, die uns an Ihrer Kunst teilhaben lassen – herzlichen Dank dafür! |
| What I Love about Ceramics | Why do I love pottery? As a social pedagogue, it is my job to accompany people, to help them to find their own path and to realize their visions. Working with clay grounds me, leads my thoughts, myself to myself and gives me the opportunity to shape something with my hands, to create something, to create something sculptural, to express myself … Warum ich Töpfern liebe? Als Sozialpädagogin ist es meine Aufgabe, Menschen zu begleiten, ihnen, zu helfen, ihren ureigenen Weg wiederzufinden und ihre Visionen zu verwirklichen. Die Arbeit mit Ton erdet mich, führt meine Gedanken, mich selbst zu mir und gibt mir die Möglichkeit, etwas mit den Händen zu formen, zu kreieren, etwas plastisch entstehen zu lassen, mir Ausdruck zu verleihen … |
| How I started with ceramics | In 1989, during my training as a teacher (educator?), I worked in a facility for people with disabilities and came into contact with clay for the first time. It actually touched me and never let go. 1989 arbeitete während meiner Ausbildung zur Erzieherin in einer Einrichtung für Menschen mit Behinderung und kam hier das erste Mal in Berührung mit Ton, dies hat mich tatsächlich berührt und nicht wieder losgelassen. |
