About Me

Introduction

Hey, I’m Ann Quin Sutherland, a potter of funky functional pottery that I turn on a Brent wheel in my home studio then fire in a a Skutt electric kiln and sell in a local gallery or on Etsy. I am a perpetual student and enjoy classes at a local art center, Fine Line  in St. Charles, IL, with the chance to mix my own glazes and fire with gas to cone 10. Remember they’re all a test tile.

What I Love about Ceramics

I love opening the kiln; it’s always full of exciting surprises.

How I started with ceramics

Organizing Army wives with a trip to the Arts and Crafts Center in Germany. Well, might as well try clay as long as we’re there.

What inspires me

Visual sightings of pots that make my heart sing‼️

What I'm working on at the moment

Flower bricks, a squirrel holding a bird bath, a garden totem pole of vegetables and Christmas ornaments.

My Artist Statement

Whitestone or porcelain for pots you can use for food, flowers or fun glazed with combinations a black, blues and green whether matte, shiny, celadon or crystalline. So many choices, so little time.
