| Introduction |
I am Don Ricardo, a compulsive artist and day-dreamer.
After 30 years of every type of art I could get my hands on, I shifted to ceramics, taking my frugal, use-what-you-have love of wabi-sabi and imperfection with me.
I got frustrated finding the right ceramics for kusamono, succulents and ikebana. So I taught myself.
I don’t use an electric wheel or any complex tools, and what tools I do use, I have fashioned myself from reclaimed materials. I even make my own loop tools.
My design process is derived from traditional methods of crafting ceramics. Pinching, coiling, and paddle and anvil. I also love carving in the Japanese-style of kurinuki.
Each piece evolves organically, and all errors are just new-found adventures.Â
Making intimate, one-off pieces that are imperfect and expressive is my happy place.
