About Me
| Introduction | Hello! My name is Kaitlyn, from Canton Ohio. I enjoy making functional pottery with surface designs highly influenced by natural elements. I am interested in learning how to market myself and begin earning doing what I love. |
| What I Love about Ceramics | Versatility and creating work that gives the user the ability to interact with beautiful pottery every day. |
| How I started with ceramics | In high-school, I took every art class I could. The ceramics classes were always my favorite because of the endless possibilities and consistent challenges. That feeling stuck and influenced me to pursue clay through college and beyond. |
| What inspires me | Naturally occurring elements. I love emulating found designs in nature and amplifying they’re beauty. |
| What I'm working on at the moment | Glaze testing a hand painted wood grain design for dinnerware. |
| My Artist Statement | The concept of my work is heavily focused on details within the natural environment that are typically overlooked for their functional purposes. The beauty and unique characteristics of wood grain, stone, or vegetation often serve as the basis of my inspiration. I strive to accentuate these naturally occurring designs and emulate them on functional pottery that will be consumed by the user. Driving the connection between natural elements and everyday life is a necessity to adequately cherish the world around me. |
