About Me

Introduction

Hello. I am Amit, originally from a small town in northern part of India, I moved to the US in 2013 and start doing pottery in 2019. I took a couple of classes initially but was lucky enough to become an independent member in a lovely studio in Madison WI – Dongzhu Pottery. I worked out of there through mid-2021 and then moved to Cambridge, MA where I worked out of Indigo Fire Studios in Watertown for a year. Since mid-2022, I have been living in Arlington, VA and working of LAC Studios.

What I Love about Ceramics

My heart is in functional ceramics. I love the process of making and expressing myself through the form and design.

How I started with ceramics

Couple of classes in Madison WI in 2019. Been mostly self-taught via internet and fellow studio artists since then.

What inspires me

My kitchen, my upbringing, and my friends. Most of the things I attempt to make start off as intended gifts for someone I love and then it becomes part of my repertoire if I like it enough.

What I'm working on at the moment

A local dental office owned by my partner requested a series of custom mugs for their patients, which is what I’m currently working on. Generally, however, I’m working on kitchenware items.
