Clay body | Stoneware, Porcelain |
Kiln Type | Electric Kiln |
Kiln Atmosphere | Oxidation Atmosphere |

Glaze | I am currently set up for mostly stoneware glaze. Â Northcote Pottery’s Jade is a favourite. Â I love playing around with its volatility, and mixing it with other glazes, dirty sink water, sink sludge, and other materials to see what happens in the kiln. I am also experimenting with Midfire and Low Fire glazes, and will have more pieces available in the future fired at these temperatures. |

About Me
Introduction | Hello I’m Kate. Â I’m from Melbourne, Australia. I make handbuilt pieces mostly fired to stoneware temperatures. Â I am in the early stages of my practice, and am interested in developing my work into pieces with more sculptural forms with more sophisticated surfaces. |
What I Love about Ceramics | I love being able to do just about anything with clay! |
How I started with ceramics | A friend was doing some drop in workshops, and put a piece of clay in my hands one weekend. Â You know the rest of the the story… |
What inspires me | I’m inspired by:

What I'm working on at the moment | After attending some Zoom classes in 2020 with Liz Zlot Summerfield and Naomi Clement, I am trying to find enough time to apply their surface techniques and handbuilding techniques in to my work. Â It is a slow process, as life and the day job have a way of getting in the way! Â There are some hints of their influence in my new pieces, but oh for some creative development time to really get my teeth into it!! |
