About Me
| Introduction | Hi I’m Ema! I’m from Zagreb, Croatia. I make sculptures and sculptured pottery, handbuilt or from my moulds. The name Ema generally means “Universal” and it fits, because I am interested in many things ;D From art (animation, performance, music, etc.) to social questions, animals, how we are taking care of ourselves, and the world. 🙂 |
| What I Love about Ceramics | I love that you get to work with earth, fire, air and water! Truly an immersive experience 😉 i also love to see the excitement in people in my workshops when they first grab a piece of clay and let their imaginations go free 🙂 |
| How I started with ceramics | I sculpted things my whole life, whether from a piece of playdough as a kid or some foil while sitting in a caffé with friends 😉 my hand were always forming something. As I grew up, I didn’t know where to fully focus my creative flow because i loved everything (painting, drawing, sculpting, knitting, singing, resin…) Until my father suggested i take an official ceramic course. Then everything just clicked and i realised i found my calling 😉 |
| What inspires me | I am mostly inspired by nature and an “zen” atmosphere of joy or peace 🙂 when i started I was all about symmetry, but now i have embraced the “hand” feel 😉 it just feels warmer! |
| What I'm working on at the moment | I am working on workshops! It’s a free theme, they can do what they feel like doing and I give them guidence 🙂 Also i am currently testing glazes, as i only fired my own kiln 3 times so far ;p I think my next project will be a bigger figure sculpture, so far I’ve only done small small things ;D it’s time to go Big! |
| My Artist Statement | “Feel the rythm of your soul, where your inspiration guides you.” |
