Introduction | I am Kehinde James Akanni, from Nigeria, I make ceramic sculptures and I’m interested in adding more knowledge and skills, also to share my passion and be among clay lovers |
What I Love about Ceramics | The fact that I can easily manipulate cost into any form, decorate with different patterns and the use of different coloring oxides |
What inspires me | The richness and diversity of the African cultures inspires me. |

My Artist Statement | As a pottery artist, I am most known for my conceptual and thematic clay pieces. My work primarily feature African themes, with the use of specially actualized motifs and designs from traditional African visual culture depicting our social, economic, and religious lives. My use of Adire and Yoruba motif is inspired by my personal aim to explore the lessons and objectives of my culture as a personal lens with which I view the world. In a world that is overtaken by modernization, it is important to remember our origins (cultures), which are mostly reflected in my works.
