About Me

Introduction

DAJart (Dominique Devos) is active both as a ceramist and as a potter. You can therefore find both lathe work and images. You can also visit the Atelier Kleileute, so that you can see for yourself how ceramics are made. Workshops and/or creative sessions are regularly offered.

What I Love about Ceramics

Clay is addictive. A day without clay is a day not lived. Clay is fun. that is also the name of my studio: KLEIleute (= Dutch for CLAYfun)

How I started with ceramics

At the age of 12 (1979) I bought my first pack of clay. Since then, the lasting study is still going on… a path of study, experimentation and a lot of work. In the meantime I know that I still don’t know a lot … the road goes always further and faster … FUN

What inspires me

The moments, observed in one’s own environment, bring the impressions that have to be converted into clay.

What I'm working on at the moment

I have a wide range of interests. I am currently refining my knowledge in developing crystal glazes. In addition, I spoil myself by making objects from a mix of turning, hand building and sculpting.

My Artist Statement

Finding pleasure in creating surprises

My CV

Mainly self-made knowledge collector, confirmed with a professional Ceramist training, further supplemented with knowledge gained through following workshops. Recognized by the Belgian government as a craftsman.
