| Introduction |
Hi im Dee from Far North Queensland where the rainforest meets the reef, inspired every day. Being remote, a mum & not much options to learn, im self taught. I hand build mostly in slabs & functional ware. I love all facets of ceramics & i like going down the rabbit hole as you never know what you can learn. I love sculpturing & currently learning more about glazing. I mainly rely on online workshops as it hard for me to get away & not much options around our area. I started back with clay about 4 yrs ago & my passion for it keeps going & i love that you never get bored. As a child i would pick the clay out of the oceans cliff walls & sit for hours playing with it. After the birth of my child & not having any time to myself until she was a toddler, I wanted one thing for myself & that was clay again. I have a small market stall at the local markets & festivals, I run basic workshops for kids & adults & volunteer at our local pottery shed.

| My Artist Statement |
A creative way to be still & mindful.
My designs are from functional ware to creative sculptures. My creations are constantly changing as I work intuitively & like to try new things. Everything I make it is hand built. I am self taught as I live remote. My inspiration comes from nature, where the rainforest meets the reef & looking at life through my child’s eyes. Having lived in Far North Queensland for over 20 years, I never get tired of the inspiration & diversity of our area.
I am hoping to collectively work with other artist & have our own exhibition next year. My designs will be focus on bringing nature to life within my sculptures
