About Me

Introduction

Hi, my name is Kait (she/they) and I’m a stay at home mom by day and potter by night who transitioned from working in mental health to making fun stuff with clay!  I’m located in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, US. I love wheel throwing and slab building then altering the forms with sculpture. My love of brass antiques, insects, houseplants, occult, mushrooms and hiking/foraging adventures heavily influence my designs. I make everything from mugs, functional wares, planters, to wall art, ceramic jewelry, decorative and functional sculptures (my crystal ring dishes for example). Clearly I need to narrow down on several fronts….. which is why I’m here haha

What I Love about Ceramics

Everything! The possibilities are endless! And potters are the best!

How I started with ceramics

My adoration with ceramics began as soon as a lump of clay was placed in my hands at 7 years old, at a free after school program at The Baum School of Art. However, after that short program ended clay was inaccessible. It wasn’t until 18 years later I began sculpting polymer clay to occupy my time in between post-college job applications. Polymer clay was nice… but something in my soul longed for the real deal and the feedback and encouragement from friends lit a fire. I slowly saved money while working in mental health, began reading pottery books and blogs, took notes, bought a 2nd hand kiln, bought some low fire clay to start…soon enough selling pottery replaced selling my polymer clay jewelry at local festivals. Eventually I took the plunge to leave my job…

What inspires me

Nature, Antiquing, my spirituality and my daughter

What I'm working on at the moment

Prepping for a busy art festival season and the holidays! Lots of mugs, ornaments and ring dishes
