About Me
Introduction | Hi, at this moment I`m siting in front of my workingdesk and I see white landscape. Someone is cross-country skiing and quite many people are having dogs with them. Its quite quiet. My name is Anni and I`m from Finland (did you guess already?). I`m thinking what to teach to my pupils in art school. They are 7-16 years old. But same time im thinking what to do next with my paperporcelain art works. I`m interested of anything what involves ceramics! I love to try different methods and materials. I love to hear artist talks about their works. Etc. |
What I Love about Ceramics | Sounds, structure, forms, making and handling the clay. Loving opening the kiln with excitement. Everything! |
How I started with ceramics | When I was about 6 years old I was watching childrend program from tv. I sew a man with clay and he was shaping African animals, like elephant. I remenber watching it and thinking that I want to do exatly the same, just perfect shape and so smooth. I was also in art school and there I wanted to do nothing but clay works and I thought that Im quite good at it. After high school I got into Aalto university in Helsinki and started journey with art education. Theaching is something that has been always in me… Well after studying and few years teaching I wanted to learn more and specially ceramic and so I did. And after 2005 I have done a lot of ceramicworks besides art teaching. And now even more ceramicart! |
What inspires me | Thinking inspires me at this moment! |
What I'm working on at the moment | Paperporcelainsculptures. |
My Artist Statement | When I`m sitting front of my desk I`m working with piece of clay, which is amorphous form. I`m trying to achieve forms from my imagination. Therefore my eyes are in my fingertips and I`m trying to see what I´m working with. Working and touching are related to time. You don`t feel if you don’t stop. Usually people are only watching works in exhibitions but I want to offer a possibility to touch my works. Ceramic surface is made for touching. “You can feel all my works!” |
