About Me
| Introduction | My name is Claudia Gyr I was born in Switzerland and emigrating to Australia 1988. I established a gallery and pottery studio in 1992 where I worked mostly as a production pottery with a little time for exhibition pieces. 2000 I closed the gallery and acquired a Masters degree in Creative Arts Therapy. Since then I have been using the creative process for personal development and in depth Art-psychotherapy, working with individuals and groups. 2020 I rekindled my love for clay and use mostly hand building.
|
| What I Love about Ceramics | I love the tactile feel of clay and the meditative space I submerge myself into when working with it. I also love the endless possibilities clay offers and the amazing transformation the material goes through ending up as a lasting object which outlives me. 🙂 |
| How I started with ceramics | I started as a production potter in 1976 with a 3 year potters apprentices ship in an old traditional pottery established in 1786. Spending 9 hour days on the wheel throwing table ware, vases and other decorative pieces. |
| What inspires me | Nature and my internal self reflective processes. |
| What I'm working on at the moment | I am focusing on hand-building one off pieces using mostly dark or black clay. |
