Everyone calls me Joh and I live on the East Coast of Australia. I’ve been working with Clay since early 2022. I mainly work on the wheel but have been branching out to hand building recently. I’d like to start on making my own glazes eventually.

| What I Love about Ceramics |
I love how the clay can be recycled. If things don’t workout, recycle & start again. A lot of excess from creating, all good just recycle it. From start to finish it takes time and patience. You have to wait whether you like it or not. It teaches patience and can result in something beautiful.

| How I started with ceramics |
It started with a Wheel and Sip party which I found so relaxing like meditation and by the end of the night I was hooked. I then found a local beginners pottery class and it went from there.

| What inspires me |
Nature and function. I try to find something I like in nature whether it be colour or shape and then make something that can be used not just looked at. I love sculpture but struggle with that form.

| What I'm working on at the moment |
The size of pieces. I am trying to size up my work. I seem to only get to a set size and then battle with the clay if I try to go bigger.
