About Me
| Introduction | Suzanne ConnollyHowes i am ahandbuilder. I do animal sculptures, garden art, art ware: vases and hor’s dishes. I am also a textile artist, painting silk and creating wool felt art.
|
| What I Love about Ceramics | the versatility the joy of the unknown as i am sculpting to see what creature manifest – even if i have a sense that i am making a fox, a rabbit, a bird, the personality is something that emerges as i work, not something i have a clear visual of ahead of time. |
| How I started with ceramics | a friend invited em over to carve a tile and i felt like i was coming home to myself |
| What inspires me | other clay artists nature humor |
| What I'm working on at the moment | sculptures for gardens bird vases |
| My Artist Statement | My love of nature is reflected in all of my art. I hope that my art brings people closer to their own connection to the grace and beauty of the natural world. I love to play with two very different mediums: clay and fiber. Each resonates with different parts of my connection to nature. Working in clay for the first time I came home to myself – a place where I found inner peace and sanctuary. With a sense of wonder, I meet each creature as it comes to life through my hands. Clay is also a place where i find my whimsical voice. I love my connection to teaching at the cooperative gallery I co own in Lafayette, CO pARTiuclars Art Gallery & Teachig Studio. I enjoy providing the opportunity for folks to be creative and learn new artistic skills, and love creating community public art. |
| My CV | Birds of a Feather – 8 local artists were invited to show their art in an exhibit celebrating Lafayette’s designation as a Bird City in 2019 |
