About Me
| Introduction | My name is Sara Alawie and I am a ceramist. Half Italian and half Lebanese, I have always breathed the value of union and the extraordinary power of contamination. From this legacy I inharitaded my love for discovery, for  differences, for the world, people and their traditions. Constantly searching for elements that resonate with my values, I found them in Asia: in Shanghai I met the purity of porcelain while in Icheon I learned about traditional shapes and process from Korean masters. however, it was in Japan,in Mashiko that I found a common denominator to all these instances through lines’ harmony and balance From these places and these men, I draw inspiration for my works, shaping material and portray elements that have been taught me in a personal way Natural materials, clean and rational shapes, functionality, harmonious fusion of opposite elements characterize my creations. |
| My Artist Statement | Shaping unique, precious and exclusive works using only natural materials and artisan techniques. I create functional and decorative objects, artistic installations and home and lighting’s accessories, enhancing the resistance of STONEWARE and the purity and translucency of PORCELAIN thanks to the precious glazes and original decorations from all over the world. The World is my constant source of inspiration and every journey offers me unique treasures that I carry in my creations I believe in experiences that only love for discovery can offer. I believe in the power of contamination because only through different elements’ union is possible to reach the amazement of Art. I believe in the artisan production process, in the rediscovery of near and far ancient techniques,  in the inner relationship with the matter which is the only way to blend the natural elements to your soul. |
