Julia: your painting is so expressive and well done! Can I ask you a question: how hot do you fire your bisque? You said that you paint on bisque and then fire at cone 5. I make earthenware ( 04-05) but I am wondering if you can maintain bright colors at a higher temperature. Thank you and congratulations again, these are beautiful!

Hi Daniela, you can fire all the underglazes up to cone 10 in oxidation and the colors will stay bright. Your clear glaze might interfere with the color, you need to test how the underglazes will look like with the clear glaze over. It’s a lot of fun to play with colors!

3 years agoBusiness & Marketing 3 years agoHi! I am taking the “Instagram Academy” class and I tried to take a picture of a pencil holder I made, with the actual pencils in it. I have a lot of pictures of other things I made, but just a blue background, no context. See what you think!

The piece is beautiful, you should try to make the picture with less elements around. That way the attention will go on the piece, of course you must use the color pencils. Why if you play with the piece and the just the color pencils? Just an idea. Have fun experimenting.

I’ve been told that before about my flowers. I use underglaze mostly. Sometimes stroke n coat. Been spending more time lately on my surface finishes. The profile pic is a cold finish on surface as I hated the glaze. Thanks and you can find more on Instagram. Out of clay

I love making jewelry boxes with traditional Renaissance flair. They look so good on a dresser and you can always find your jewelry where you put it! This is a little one, probably about 3” wide. Daniela.
