I live in Kuwait and all of the clay available for studios, schools, etc. comes from England. Which puzzled me since, originally, all the houses here were adobe — made from local earth. I decided to hunt for local clay and found a deposit that, geologists told me, was laid down 10 to 15 million years ago in periodic catastrophic floods drained by seasonal riverbeds running north into Mesopotamia which at that time was a sea. I mined it, formulated a clay body and made this bowl. The glaze is a commercial one I bought from a ceramic supply house in Kecskemet, Hungary.
