| Introduction |
Hi, my name is Leona and I live in Florida, USA. I am a small batch mid range potter. I make mostly functional pieces.
I love trying more difficult throwing and carving pieces although I mostly make things that people can use.
I am still learning after 25 years. There is so much I don’t know and being a solo potter I don’t have anyone to bounce ideas off of so I do a lot of trail and error.

| What I Love about Ceramics |
I love the feel of the wet clay and the possibilities that it offers. I also love combining commercial glazes to see what happens. I tend to think of every piece as a test tile. Sometimes good and sometimes not what I expect.
Opening the kiln is always an exciting time

| How I started with ceramics |
I took a class in college and fell in love with ceramics although I usually say pottery to stop the confusion of people thinking I buy green ware instead of making everything from start to finish
|
| What inspires me |
Nature and antiques inspire me. I love the timelessness of pottery
|
| What I'm working on at the moment |
I have been working on coffee cups/mugs. Trying different heights and shapes. This is something I didn’t used to do relying on bowls and plates.

| My Artist Statement |
I am a solo potter working from my home based studio. I work mid range stoneware clay and glazes.
